Gembrook Hill Pinot Noir 2013

gembrook hill pinot noirWell. It’s one of the stars of Yarra Valley pinot noir, each release eagerly awaited. This release doesn’t let the name down.

It’s a powerful release. It’s light in colour but it impresses itself upon you. It smells and tastes of sweet-sour cherries, roasted coffee, twigs and spice, with those trademark foresty notes stitched meticulously into the wine. Tannin, infused with graphite, gives it a dry, driving personality. Clear notes of fresh, dripping, earth-crusted beetroot play a starring role too. Lay down, without doubt, no question; this is a goodun’. Length of flavour once again is a feature.
