Cobaw Ridge Lagrein 2010

From the Macedon Ranges producer, Cobaw Ridge, who seem to have their head down, busy doing their own thing, enjoying their turn to organics/biodynamics in farming and making a splash overseas for their range of wines, while finding the cultish followers at home still knocking at their doors. Recent years see some more exacting winemaking and there’s been some belters in the new releases. Lagrein is rarely seen outside Sud Tyrol/Alto Adige in Italy and has a home at Cobaw Ridge as one of their focus varieties. A uniqueness on top of uniqueness.

What is The Wine Front?

The WINEFRONT is Australia's most active wine review site. It started in 2002 and is, and always will be, entirely independent. It's run by wine lovers for wine lovers. It keeps enthusiasts ahead of the game by reviewing wines as they are released. Its focus is Australian wine but the coverage is open slather across the full wonderful gamut of world wine. It's run by Campbell Mattinson, Gary Walsh and Mike Bennie. A full history of reviews and articles, from the ridiculously sublime to the comically ridiculous, can be accessed via the WINE SEARCH tab.
