Mr Riggs Shiraz 2015

From the Gateway and Piebald Gully vineyards of McLaren Vale. Matured in 80/20 French/American oak, 30% new. This is the 15th release of this wine.

Soft, mellow, rich and plum-drenched. There’s a wealth of flavour, some of it gently developed, and yet there’s also a nervy freshness about the edges. Not sure how they did that. Coffee-cream oak, a melt of tannin, peppercorn aspects, bitumen; it’s McLaren Vale shiraz 101, but it’s been done very well.
