Barossa Boy Lifeblood Shiraz 2016

New wine label from Trent Burge, sixth generation winemaker. “The Lifeblood shiraz is made to be a blockbuster.” It comes in a heavy bottle, it’s sealed with a DIAM cork, it’s matured for 22 months in a combination of American and French oak, and 400 dozen was the make.

It’s big, syrupy and tannic but you’d have to say that it’s very good. The cellars beckons. Saturated blackberry and plum flavours come coated in coffee cream oak. The flavours explode onto the palate and then smash into a rock-strewn shore of tannin. It’s a brute of a wine.
