Ziereisen Schulen Blauer Spatburgunder 2014

“Recipe winemaking is a horror for us”, says the quote on the back label. That being said, this wine follows some of 2013’s example – organic vineyard, natural fermentation, no additions, matured in large format, old oak – though I wager the whole bunch inclusion is more fluid and reactive to season. A revelation for me from German winemaking circles, Ziereisen making striking wines from their unique plots in Baden. Worth seeking out for the pinot noir enthusiasts.
