Including a Trophy recently in Canberra!
Also tasted this recently and quite frankly was astounded that this has been so well received. Blocky, over-ripe, one dimensional pap.
Does the national wine show keep audit samples?
Well it’s hard to believe all those experienced judges could be so way off the mark. It’s a solid commercial wine, but if it’s a trophy winning wine then I’ll show my arse.. something is amiss, either with the way the shows are run, the samples submitted (and I’m not saying there’s a switcheroo going on) or the judges (fatigue etc.)..or I just don’t appreciate the fabulous quality and nuance this wine is offering..

“Including a Trophy recently in Canberra!” - for the Shiraz-Grenache 2005, Best Dry red in the Other Varieties and Blends, Premium Classes, it just pipped the 2006 d’Arenberg Derelict Vineyard Granache.
Re audit sample, the check samples this year were restricted to wines entered by Riverina wineries this year, usually it’s more widespread. Left over submitted sample bottles are not kept for audit purposes.
PS, there was only 10 bottles in the class.
Oh that is good news. I actually really liked the 2005 Shiraz-Grenache.
Maybe we need an audit of Liquorish’s posts?
I quite liked the 05 Shiraz Grenache too..thought about giving a point or two more but sat with it and decided not to. I’d say it’s a fair way off in quality to the 06 Derelict Vineyard…
