This is the second nebbiolo from Timo Mayer. This year saw one extra week on skins (he listened to the universe whispering softly ‘more tannin more tannin more tannin’. It is 100% whole bunch as per the general methodology of Timo, or madness. Meanwhile, I also recommend that if you visit Timo, you ask for his great schnapps that he stores in PET bottles in his shed. Ask for it by name, ‘Timo’s Wicked Piss’. For this wine, though shades of Alto Piedmont, but wholly its own thing. What a ride.
