Thousand Candles Gathering Field Pinot Noir 2017

Here’s an interesting wine, and in some respects, tastes perhaps like a place and philosophy, over grape variety. No bad thing either way, but don’t mind me.

Perfumed and spicy, with a sappy kind of cherry elixir flavour nuzzling against an earthy/savoury, what you might perhaps call ‘natural wine’ feel. Grainy tannin sits deep and rumbles away insistently, and while there’s a flicker of green herb though the wine, it feels at its core to be fruit driven and that baked beetroot earthy thing gives it an intriguing bass note. It’s interesting and full of personality, and good to drink. In short, I like it very much.
