Stonier WindmillFrom a single vineyard planted in 1996. Fermented as two separate batches. One de-stemmed and the other whole bunch fermented with wild yeast. Both have 50% new French oak.

Clear crimson colour. Lightly perfumed aromas of cherry, raspberry and spicy vanilla French oak. Some attractive stalky characters. Light to medium bodied palate with slightly creamy oak, red fruit, spice, vanilla and dried herb flavours. Excellent fine grained tannins. Clean and fresh. Long dry spice and strawberry finish. Lovely wine.

Ha ha. I have just noticed that I can see my reflection in the bottle.

I agree, a very nice pinot.I agree it needs a few years to show it’s best, but it certainly has all the elements to make something special with another few years under it’s belt.

GW. Picked up the 05 of this at the airport on the way to Bali (expensive exercise but cheaper than Indo). We had it in the fridge, so bit slow to open, but once it did - WOW. really delicious wine. Bit gamey and smokey - definitely going back for more.

How does the Windmill compare to KBS which i think is Stonier’s other single vineyard Pinot?

I don’t think I have had the KBS but someone else will know.
