Sorrenberg Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot 2015

I haven’t caught up with this wine in a while, but of course great farming and great people underpin the wine. With all the attention in my fridge on Sorrenberg chardonnay and the white blend, this slips under the radar. It shouldn’t, for sheer pleasure.

It’s a succulent, just on medium bodied red but seems to pack in quite intense flavour, dark fruit character, licks of undergrowth and herbs, a kiss of spicy wood character, all set to a smooth glide and a sense of that ‘energy’ in wine that lacks a good definition. It’s perhaps not as tannin set or firm as many like from the variety/blend, but the freshness, suppleness and bright fruit flavour are addictive. Indeed, this is a wine hard to put down, simple deliciousness married to the with hallmarks of fine wine complexity and length.
