Serafino Bellissimo Montepulciano 2017

“This Montepulciano received a Trophy and Gold Medal for “Best Mediterranean Wine” of the Show at the 2017 McLaren Vale Wine Show”. “Best Mediterranean Wine” you’d have to take with a raised eyebrow, but there you go. Serafino have a strong focus on all things Italian grape varieties in McLaren Vale.

Nice little slurpy thing to tuck into. Simple, sweet-ish, crisp tannins, medium weight, glossy texture, decent bite of fresh acidity. Smells like cherry juice and vanilla malt. Slips over the tongue with ease and I like the little smudge of tannins to finish. The wine feels nicely put together, and generally really easy to drink. Could take a chill maybe too. Good little pizza wine vibes.
