Seppelt Original Sparkling Shiraz 2013

seppelt original sparkling shiraz 2012This wine is such a low priority at Seppelt nowadays (whatever “at Seppelt” means) that it isn’t sent out with other Seppelt samples. You either have to specifically ask, or buy it, or you won’t ever see it. I bought a bottle.

It tastes like it’s low priority too. It’s never been a particularly intellectual style but they’ve taken simple and dumbed it down. It’s sweet and soft and seems to have seen a serious amount of dosage. Blackberry jam and black cherry; I’m struggling to see any other flavours. It slips down easily; no doubting it. It has pretty good intensity. But it feels like an unloved wine.
