Punt Road Napoleone Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

The 2016 vintage in the Yarra Valley was a little hot and heavy, but no doubt there’s still some sexy wines about.

Plenty of whole bunch spice and mescal lift about this wine, sweet cherry, a little vanilla, and lathed wood. Medium bodied, sweet/savoury/sappy flavours, firm slightly grainy tannin, a good punch through the middle and not bad through the finish either, though a little mulchy and stalky. It does not lack personality. It’s a pretty good and interesting wine.
