Ochota Barrels Botanicals of the Basket Range 2017

Bottle 35 of 605, and sold out at the winery, though it may still be available at some retailers. Though vintage, buckets of all wines made were chucked into an egg, and had a continuous ferment. Taras then pranced around his garden with a little cane basket, and collected 17 botanicals (including sage, wild fennel, wormwood, elderflower, lemon balm, bay leaf, river mint, thyme…) and submerged them in the egg until the ‘berserko reading was off the chart’. Ha ha.

What is The Wine Front?

The WINEFRONT has flourished as a wine review and information site since 2002. We believe in hard work, realistic scoring, reliability and rigorous independence. We cover Australian wine principally but we extend coverage across the wider world of wine. The hunt for the next beautiful wine knows no boundaries. The WINEFRONT is run by Campbell Mattinson, Gary Walsh and Mike Bennie. A full history of reviews and articles is available to subscribers via the WINE SEARCH tab.
