Oakridge Oakridge Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon as part of the Local Vineyard Series.

An interesting release. Flavour-wise it’s excellent. Concentrated blackcurrant, gentle briar/herb notes, a swoosh of (integrated) smoky oak, and a general sense of richness and impact. It feels like a quality red wine. Tannin-wise is where it gets most interesting: there’s a lot of tannin here, usually a good thing, but it doesn’t quite walk in lock-step with the flavour; fruit and tannin are playing off different time signatures. Age isn’t likely to weary it any time soon; it has plenty of time to fall into step.
