News: Wineosphere powered by The Wine Front.

If you have an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch then today The Wine Front world just grew significantly bigger, and better. Today we launched our dream app: Wineosphere. It’s FREE to download.

We’d love to have developed it for both Android and iPhone but we had a choice between doing nothing and developing for one platform only; we looked at the user devices accessing The Wine Front site and hands down (80%+ access via iOS) it had to be Apple. If the cup runneth over we’ll jump at Android as soon as it’s feasible.

We think the Wineosphere app revolutionises wine interaction. We’re that bullish. The price-check feature of the Wineosphere app alone – it checks, in real time, the price of the wine you select across a range of online retailers – is being called by many who’ve already downloaded it as a “game changer”.

What is very clear is that Wineosphere is not just the website translated to an app. It helps you find and source and remember and discuss wine. It gives guides to vintages, region by region. It brings many of the threads of wine together. In fact it does so much, it’s already been described as “crammed with features”. And yet it’s simple to use.

You can even scan the barcode of a wine to bring up its review.

A 60 second video demo is available here: Wineosphere Video. It’s worth watching.

The Wine Front started in 2002. In its 12 year life it has never received any press in the mainstream media, even though it’s the oldest surviving online-only wine press site in Australia. We never thought of it this way, but The Wine Front is a pioneer of online wine writing. By accident it may well have turned out to be the future of wine writing. The Wineosphere app is one day old and it’s already attracted mainstream attention: The Australian newspaper today called it “The Ultimate Wine Experience in One App”. As we said, The Wine Front world is about to get much bigger, and better.

You could say: twelve years of hard slog to be an overnight success.

If you have an iPhone / iPad etc, download Wineosphere. Share this news. Yes, share this news. Pleas tell your friends. We are confident both you and they will love it.

Chat soon – and we’ll have a wine-focussed newsletter out shortly.

What is The Wine Front?

The WINEFRONT is Australia's most active wine review site. It started in 2002 and is, and always will be, entirely independent. It's run by wine lovers for wine lovers. It keeps enthusiasts ahead of the game by reviewing wines as they are released. Its focus is Australian wine but the coverage is open slather across the full wonderful gamut of world wine. It's run by Campbell Mattinson, Gary Walsh and Mike Bennie. A full history of reviews and articles, from the ridiculously sublime to the comically ridiculous, can be accessed via the WINE SEARCH tab.
