Mirafiore Barolo Paiagallo 2010

Serralunga based winery using traditional methods, but this vineyard is just outside the township of Barolo. Importer: Fourth Wave

Red cherry, orange peel, rose oil – pretty as a picture. Medium bodied, fine boned and quite a tense style, needs to stretch out, and definitely has long term potential – it took two days of breathing to really strut its stuff. Firm acidity and good grip – though not too much of either – and there’s a succulence and perfume here that makes it such a delicious winner of a wine. Balance is superb, as is the length. Great fruit in full voice here, and as is always the case with Nebbiolo, needs no accompaniment from discordant new oak.

Tasted : Nov14
Alcohol : 14%
Price : $120
Closure : Cork
Drink : 2019 - 2035
