Metala White Label Shiraz Cabernet 2016

Bad news is that I had this from less-than-ideal glassware. Good news is that I drank it rather than merely tasted, which always provides a clearer view of a wine.

For as long as I can remember this label has provided very good up-front flavour with a minimum of fuss. Here we go again. The berried flavours here are ripe, generous and satisfying, the handling feels sure and certain, and while there isn’t much oak to speak of there is a gentle creaminess to the texture; just enough. Given that this wine routinely sells for $15 and below, it would be fair to say that it (still) streets most of the opposition.
