Marq Wines Cabernet Franc 2017

A variety that piques the interest of winemaker Mark Warren. I believe Franc does get spelled on the label with a ‘Q’ in lieu of a ‘C’ at times – i’ll adapt for search purposes. Strong personality of the variety here. From Warren’s own vineyard.

Leads with green herbs, brambles, briar, greenery, but it’s hauled back on dark berries, kirsch scents and plummy notes. The palate is plummy, chalky in texture, licked at by green herb and white pepper, shaped with sheets of firm tannin and zesty acidity. The finish is very chewy and tight, tannin feels ripe and good. Serious kind of feel, and for franc(q) lovers, a good deal. It’s very good.
