Just popping my head in while on holidays. Agree fully with TNs for this and the syrah. Along with some great stuff tasted from barrells, Luke did have some gear that had been in a decanter overnight and, in my humble opinion had not only held up but showed a lot more in most ways. Think this MAY do more than hold in the cellar. Will be a matter of try as often as you can I think.

Quick question for you Campbell. Is scoring this wine difficult due to a) Young producer b) strong philosophy and sense of direction when it comes to low baume picking to assure racy natural acidity and fresh lively fruit and emphasis on perfume aromatically c) Not for all tastes, ie RB’s legitimate comments on the Syrah…and as such does an 89 say this is a very good wine but I’ll save the 90+ for later if and when?

ps-Great bloke, humble but willing to give opinions when asked and offered me a Harvest without me asking so I’m kinda biased :-) Think 2010 I’ll take him up. And for Gary, he has some viognier in the barrell which is looking great guns. And he doesn’t like the Yalumba’s (whilst recognizing their fruit quality and achievement), so hope you will keep your eye out when it goes to release, don’t know under what name. Cheers everyone. jeremy

OK, new site is Fantastic! I’m like a kid in a lolly shop, or perhaps a Queenslander wandering through the best cellar doors Victoria has to offer ;). Please just forget above question Campbell. Its mostly answered by reading your previous reviews which show up wonderfully on this new system. Will remark that he is aware of yeasty/doughy characteristics in the wine and has left a fair bit of 07 in the barrel to release later down the track, hoping that characteristic will change over time. So, anways cheers guys. Like “Crazy John’s” you’ve done it again!

Tough one to judge, this wine. I think its got a way to go. It really reminds me of the smell of a recently completed ferment, still macerating away on its skins.

    I really like the tannins.

Yep, understand what you mean Julian. Having said that I really like the guy, and I am excited about the wines and philosophy. At 29 years I have little doubt that he and his wines will only get better. Cheers.

I should clarify that by “a way to go” I mean that I think this wine will improve in the bottle.

Got round to trying this. Same score and similar opinion.
