Levantine Hill Katherine’s Paddock Chardonnay 2016

Hello Levantine Hill chardonnay. Feels like LH is upping the ante to realise potential of the vineyards under their charter, and, the work of Paul Bridgeman is in full flight. This is a bombastic, luxurious-feeling chardonnay giving off the impression nothing has been spared in its making.

Flint, sandalwood, ripe stone fruit, lemon, floral notes, nougat – a strong, serious, wood, fruit and mineral-accented bouquet. It’s nutty, flinty and nougat first in the palate, though the roll of razor-cut white flesh stone fruit and creamy citrus character comes in true and long. It’s gently palate staining, rich but fresh, impeccable in its make up, nothing out of place, tucked in and precise. A formidably groomed wine, elegant and mighty in its expression of chardonnay – but so well manicured I just want to mess its hair up a little! Excellent wine, as it stands.
