Leeuwin Estate Prelude Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Leeuwin’s Prelude Cabernet Sauvignon usually gets some help, if that’s the right word, from merlot.

It’s nicely put together. It sails along with blackcurrant, tobacco, menthol and dark chocolate flavour. It has tannin, enough, though it largely seems to have melted into the fruit. It’s easy drinking, in a way, but it still has cabernet’s inherent sturdiness. There’s no problem drinking this now, it’s good to go, but with such balance and weight of fruit you’d reckon that it will mature well into the medium term, if not longer. At four years of age it still seems youthful.
