La Violetta Up! Shiraz 2012

From winemaker Andrew Hoadley, “Sourced from two vineyards (Waterman Old Block and Marion) in the Porongurup foothills – about 4 km apart, as the crow flies. One of these sites is defined as Mt Barker, the other Porongurup. Hard to respect any GI border drawn with a straight line, so I prefer to use the wider net of Great Southern”.

The wine sees 40% new oak, the rest used oak, and the ferment has about 10% whole bunches in it.

What is The Wine Front?

The WINEFRONT was started in 2002. It's always been fully independent. We focus on Australian wine at all price levels but as wine lovers the full wonderful gamut of world wine is always in our sights. We score realistically and reliably. The WINEFRONT is run by Campbell Mattinson, Gary Walsh and Mike Bennie. A full history of reviews and articles is available to subscribers via the WINE SEARCH tab.
