La Linea Mencia 2016

From Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills. Not a bad spot for mencia, I guess you could say. Some elevation, cool growing season, warm days through harvest. That fits. Mencia is a variety  that excites me. Great to see it handled so sensitively here. This wine is a ripper.

Great clarity to the fruit here. Lifted floral and sweet red fruit perfume. Palate shows bustle of sweet spice and red currants. Fine juiciness then very fine ropes of powdery tannins. Those tannins! It’s sleek and tight, long and fine. Light weight yet packs in plenty. This is superb.
