Koltz The Pagan Shiraz 2016

Shiraz grapes dried on racks and pressed back into the wine, or something like that.

Rich thing, all almond chocolate and vanilla, with blackberry, dried mint and spice, floral top notes. Full-bodied, but fresh, the tannin is almost silky, but ever present, a pinch to the acidity, chocolate and cherry flavour, with an umami undertow. Good intensity, and the finish is very good, with an interplay of sweet/savoury going on. Lovely wine, and perhaps a little lighter and brighter than some previous vintages, but none the worse for it either.
