Jasper Hill Georgia’s Paddock Nebbiolo 2017

Nebbiolo, produced because Ron Laughton was ‘wowed’ by the variety. Mark Shield, the late great wine writer, arrived at the winery one day with a fine, matured Barbaresco, very early on in the Jasper Hill story, and an epiphany occurred. In 1991 an ad ran in the back of Grapegrower and Winemaker magazine for nebbiolo rootlings and that was that, though the stock sent from CSU wiped out their collection and six sticks of the six clones had to be ripped up and sent back to CSU as Ron had cleaned out the supply!
