Helen & Joey Estate Alena Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2013

Maybe not the most fetching of labels, but the wine’s certainly attractive.

Rich, sumptuous, plump style of Yarra Cabernet. Ripe mixed berries, dark mint chocolate, tobacco and vanilla oak, smooth and polished, with lilting sweet fruits of the forest, silky fine grained tannin, lovely clean acidity and a juicy dark chocolate and tobacco laced aftertaste. Only medium bodied, but very plush and seductive.
