Giant Steps Chardonnay 2017

I can feel a bit of a buzz already around 2017 Yarra Valley whites.

Some wines make you wonder for a while, but no such qualms here: the quality was clear from the first sip. It’s the way it travels through the mouth that’s most impressive, it sizzles a little, bursts with some grapefruit, has a softening gloss of almond, and maybe some white peach and pear, a minor amount of struck match, and the finish is long, clean, and flavoursome. It’s a wine that will please and delight all comers.
