Dune Pyla 2016

Here’s something new. From Duncan and Peter Lloyd, sons of Mark Lloyd of Coriole, comes an indie project. The source is Coriole’s Blewitt Springs vineyard, not but the wine label is entirely separate. Nice to hear Duncan is back in the Coriole bosom after several years experience outside of the family winemaking fold. This is a wine that says ‘run, don’t walk’ to me. It’s a killer release. It’s also a blend of nero d’avola, mourvedre, carignan and shiraz. Spice of Arrakis! The sophist in me wants to say ‘red blends like this from McLaren Vale are far more interesting and far better as a motif from the region than bog standard shiraz’, but I won’t… meanwhile, are you serious, this is $25?!
