De Bortoli Villages Pinot Noir 2017

De Bortoli looms large when you go shopping in the chains for budget/affordable pinot noir. Windy Peak at under $15, Gulf Station/GS at $15-ish, and this Villages at $18-ish. 2017 for pinot noir in the Yarra Valley comes heralded too of course. I’ve tried the 2017 Windy and it was OK but didn’t inspire. I went to choose the GS but then saw the Villages at only a couple of dollars more. Three steps up the ladder, region-variety in the zone, a good/great vintage … bang, that’ll do me.
