Country Road Private Bin Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Joint venture between John Baruzzi and Chinese importer Wine Supply Pty Ltd. Made with McLaren Vale cabernet sauvignon, though the label doesn’t mention any region other than ‘South Australia’.

The wine is good. Curranty, flecked with dry herb and tobacco notes, sinewy through the finish but with the fruit to carry it. Tannin is both fine-grained and at peace with the fruit, and a redcurrant note to the aftertaste promotes an impression of freshness. In short, it’s soft but flavoursome.
