Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir 2017

Castle Rock’s pinots are always just that; Castle Rock’s pinots. They don’t ape anything.

You have to hand it to them. This is very good. It doesn’t have a lot of treble but its bass notes are complex and alluring. Spice, undergrowth, floral herbs, stems and churns of dark, macerated berries. Tannin adds presence as well as shape; the finish is convincing. Very nicely done.
