Brown Brothers Patricia Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

There are so many areas in the sphere of wine where CM and MB exceed me; writing ability, tasting prowess, and just simply rolling up the sleeves and getting on with it. There’s one thing, however, where I’m rarely surpassed. And that’s talking about myself. Anyway, when we are not tasting blind at MBTF, Mike accuses me of ‘cherry picking’ wines for review. Guilty as charged. CM gently chastises me for doing too many imports. Guilty again. Well, I’m going to start getting down to it ’round about now, and review whatever comes my way.

Plenty of tobacco/cigar box oak, blackberry, mulberry, mint and a smoky edge. It’s full-bodied, flush with bold flavour and vanilla oak, thick and tannic, a little drying, but still kind of fresh. Bitter dark chocolate on a solid, but slightly compact finish. It doesn’t glide so much as it trudges stoically, but a good wine it is.
