Botham 81 Series Shiraz 2017

Sir Ian Botham has released a new range of wines. They range in price from $11 to $100. The wines are made at Dorrien Estate, The Lane and at Geoff Merrill. “81 Series” refers to the year when Botham went the tonk on the Australian cricket team and tore an Ashes series to pieces.

It’s a sweet, soft red with enough volume to satisfy. Indeed there are dark, plummy, choc-infused flavours aplenty here, helped along by peppercorn and mint notes. Individual flavours though, what’s the difference. It smashes sweet, juicy fruit at you in volume, and that’s all that matters. It’s ok value, and not a bad conversation starter.

Alcohol : 14.5%
Price : $18
Closure : Screwcap
Drink : 2018 - 2022
