Basket Range Wine Sholto Broderick Pinot Noir 2016

This wine is an ambitious start from the generation two of the Broderick family who grow grapes and make wine from the recently notorious Basket Range hamlet of the Adelaide Hills. Shotlo works alongside his old man, and picked this a touch earlier ‘for juicy fruit and bright acidity’. Half of the ferment was whole bunch and it settled on skins for a week before pressing. Gently treated before bottling with no sulphur.

White pepper, red cherry, cherry cola, touch of musk stick lollies – that’s the bouquet. Brisk and bright to taste, electric acidity, ultra crunchy, great tension in the wine, pulled taut, lean but flavoursome, really refreshing almost gently sweet-spicy rose-like. It’s such a fun thing to drink here. Such freshness. Such gulpability. All over this. Drink up.
