Babich The Patriarch 2009

According to Babich they are ‘innovative, visionary, contemporary’ – they certainly have been part of the leading drive of larger wine companies in New Zealand to champion multi-regional wines. They source from Hawke’s Bay, Auckland, Marlborough and Gisborne which puts them in a position to action a ‘contemporary’ ‘vision’. They make a lot of ready-to-roll wines that hit the market at consumer friendly price points, but the Patriarch range is for ‘superior vintages’ of their top wines. Interestingly, they are one of NZ’s older (and family) owned wine companies with over 90 years of winemaking history.¬†This wine is sourced from Babich’s Gimblett Road vineyard and is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Cabernet Franc 25%, Malbec 25%.
