De Bortoli Windy Peak Sangiovese 2006
I liked the previous vintage of this and Campbell panned it. Funny business.

Picardy Tête de Cuvee Pinot Noir 2006
I never got around to buying any of the outstanding 2005, so if anyone comes to my cellar and says “Shaz ya Tetes”, I’m afraid they will come up empty handed. This is an excellent wine from a cool vintage, although I’d also suggest it will polarise drinkers.

Mandala Chardonnay 2007
Mandala has one of the swankiest - and newest - cellar doors in the Yarra Valley. The 2006 releases were pretty good too.

Nigl Dornleiten Riesling 2007
I was at The Press Club restaurant in Melbourne recently and noticed someone drinking a bottle of Nigl. Thought to myself that I wouldn’t mind a bit of that - and lo and behold there were samples waiting when I arrived home. These Nigl wines are fermented with wild yeasts and are bottled (under screwcap) unfined.

Ngeringa Viognier 2007
By Campbell Mattinson
This was grown on five year old biodynamically-grown vines and was subsequently 100% barrel fermented in used oak, with some malolactic fermentation too. It spent nine months in oak. It’s $40 for a 375ml bottle. It was such a limited crop that there was only half a barrel produced.
